How Do I Get A Burn Permit in Missouri?
Air Curtain Burners/ Air Curtain Destructors are required to obtain an open burn permit for commercial burns in Missouri. The permits cost $250 and are good for 30 days.
Permanent burn sites would require an operating permit. This is different from the general burn permit.
There is not a specific burn-ban season in Missouri. However, burning on Red Ozone Days (days marked in the weather forecast as red for poor air quality) is not permissible.
Burn Site Requirements in Missouri (WITH an Air Curtain Burner)
Reference 10 CSR 10-6.045 (3)(F).
Air curtain incinerator operation must take place at least fifty (50) yards from the nearest occupied structure not owned by the party that owns or operates the air curtain incinerator. (G) Air curtain incinerators must meet the following emission limitations:
1. Maintain opacity to less than or equal to ten percent (10%) opacity (as determined by the average of three (3) one (1)-hour blocks consisting of ten (10) six (6)-minute average opacity values), except as described in paragraph (3)(G)2. of this rule; and
2. Maintain opacity to less than or equal to thirty five percent (35%) opacity (as determined by the average of three (3) one (1)- hour blocks consisting of ten (10) six (6)- minute average opacity values) during the startup period that is within the first thirty (30) minutes of operation.
